Cleansing Products

In 1982, they introduced the CLAYTON SHAGAL MILK CLEANSER, the first, non irritating cleansing product to come out on the market. This cleanser removes both face and eye make-up all in one step. Since then, many competitors have followed their lead. Far from being content with this first success, they strived to improve their formulation. They wanted a cleanser that would be gentle and refreshing as well as being capable of removing waterproof eye make-up. In short, a product so effective and versatile that it would become a cleanser, make-up remover, waterproof mascara remover and toning lotion, all in one.

The result is CLAYTON SHAGAL GEL LOTION CLEANSER. a one step, non- perfumed cleanser, suitable for all types of skin, so complete and non- irritating it is recommended by medical and aesthetic professionals.

Exfoliation products

For a number of years, exfoliation of the skin had aroused mixed reactions. Their research team were determined to explore this venue further. They knew that radical exfoliation procedures attack the protective system of the skin. Some 30 to 35 layers of dead cells that are an integral part of the skin’s immune system and one of the causes of premature again cannot be abraded without defying the very purpose of exfoliation.

Their objective at LA MAISON CLAYTON SHAGAL was to reactivate the natural process of skin-cell rejuvenation while respecting its inherent cycle. Their team of chemists and biochemists opted for a facial scrub of natural bran fibers. When in contact with moist skin, these fibers are capable of expanding to completely surround the shape of the skin’s sebaceous orifice and gently exfoliate the accumulated debris and dirt particles. 

For weathered skin, their research team brilliantly created a salicylic acid based facial scrub which allows in-depth cleansing of skin-cell debris while systematically neutralizing activity after 2 minutes. Thus was born CLAYTON SHAGAL'S OAT BRAN SCRUB and AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) SCRUB. Both exfoliation procedures enhance the natural glow of the skin and prepare it for the next step.

In-depth Moisturizers

With the skin surface properly cleansed and ready to absorb precious nutrients, they were now ready to attack the most critical aging offender: the loss of in-depth moisturizers. In its unrelenting pursuit of perfection, LA MAISON CLAYRON SHAGAL aimed for the products that would penetrate the skin surface and reach the level where the cell activity takes place: the connective tissue or dermis level of the skin.

In the 1970’s essential oils, vitamins, organs and plant extracts, including several synthetic elements were the only ingredients available to counter-balance the loss of moisture that occurs as the body ages. Most of these substitutes proved ineffective in reaching the dermis level because of the “natural protective barriers” located in the epidermis. In the early 1980s, the CLAYRON SHAGAL team discovered a unique extracting method that provided human skin with macromolecular proteins of collagen and elastin fibrils whose function was to regenerate human tissues.

Best of all, these proteins could be transferred cutaneously into human skin without injection. As far as skin hydration was concerned. Our laboratory had made the discovery of the century!

LA MAISON CLAYTON SHAGAL went a step further. They wanted to hydrate the skin tissues effectively and enhance all cell activity in the most vulnerable areas of the skin e.g. the eye, lip, neck, as well as the rest of the facial area, all in one step.
